As an artist, you will need to have more than just talent. You need to stand out amongst the massive sea of other musicians who are all striving for that top spot. There are several ways to do this, but it will take some serious effort on your part.
Let's look at three areas where every artist must shine.
Your Stage Name
Your stage name needs to stand out and be completely different from your peers. It should be something that people will remember. If you can, avoid placing a "Lil" in front of your name, as the industry is filled with "Lil's" (ex: Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, etc.) While these acts are wildly successful despite having a common name, try to put your creativity to the test as much as possible.
Your Merch
Every artist's merchandise store will include t-shirts, hoodies, and hats. Therefore, you will need to make your merch stand out. Invest in quality printing or embroidery and a graphic designer who is experienced in creating designs for clothing.
Also, try adding unique items to your merch store. Consider things that people can use in their everyday lives, such as flash drives with your logo on them, writing materials, keychains, etc.
Your Social Media Presence
It's critical to thoughtfully curate your social media feeds. Make your profiles look more unified and memorable by creating a color scheme or a unique hashtag to help your fans easily identify you.
Getting these areas right may take a little trial and error, but we have faith that you will get it right and set yourself apart in the overcrowded music industry.
