After being signed to Sony for two decades, Grammy-award-winning singer Alicia Keys is now an independent artist.
The “Fallin” star recently conducted a Twitter Spaces session with Jay-Z, where she revealed that her most recent album, “KEYS,” is her final album with her longtime record label.
“I’m so excited because KEYS is actually the last album I have on a major label,” she shared.
Her superstar producer husband, Swizz Beatz, shared the exciting news on his Instagram that his wife was no longer bound to record label contractual obligations.
“I love that you have this freedom at this time in your life it’s rare!!!! Life begins now and this KEYS album is a true masterpiece,” the Verzuz founder wrote.
Her 2001 debut album, “Songs in A Minor,” went on to become five times platinum and earned her five Grammys. She followed up with critically acclaimed albums such as “The Diary of Alicia Keys,” “As I Am,” and “Girl on Fire,” all of which won Grammy awards.
There is no word yet on what Keys plans on doing with her newfound independence, but whatever that may be, we’re sure she will not be lacking in talent or star power.
