Fivio Foreign revealed that Beyoncé told him he needed to clean up his lyrics before she could clear the sample for one of Destiny's Child's biggest hits.
The New York drill rapper joined Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning ahead of his debut album, "B.I.B.L.E.." During the interview, Fivio shared that his record, "What's His Name," featuring Coi Leray and Queen Naija, was created with a sample of Destiny Child's hit "Say My Name." While he got the record cleared, Queen Bey made him do a little work before she put her stamp on it.
"She heard it. It was a little vulgar, a little bit for her, at first. I cleaned it up. I cleaned it up. I cleaned it up a lot. It was like, 'You can't be talking about girls like that!'" the 32-year-old revealed.
After adjusting the record context, music-publishing executive John Platt called Fivio and informed him he also needed to clean up Coi's lyrics. After a few minor tweaks, the song was cleared.
