Bobby Shmurda Slams Epic Records For Keeping Him In Record Deal

Rapper Bobby Shmurda is slamming Epic Records for refusing to release his new music. He is now calling for the label to end his contract for good.

The Brooklyn MC expressed his frustration in a Thursday Instagram post. He accused Epic and its CEO Sylvia Rhone of stopping his new songs from coming out. Since his release from prison nearly a year ago, the 27-year-old says he has put in the work with no help from his label.

"This is not a cry for help this is a message and understanding for my fans that they stopping my music and prolonging my career," Shmurda wrote in the now-deleted post.

Shmurda also shared his disappointment in December when he responded to fans asking for new tunes.

"Go ask them mf's who wanna control everything," he wrote at the time.

Shmurda signed the restrictive record contract when he was 19-years-old during the height of his debut single, "Hot N---a." Shortly after, Shmurda was sentenced to prison. He revealed that even during his time behind bars, he was working to end his contract to no avail.

Epic has not responded to Shmurda's claims and the growing #FreeShmurda movement.
