Drake is reportedly putting the finishing touches on his highly anticipated sixth studio album, “Certified Lover Boy.”
Fans have been anxiously awaiting the project, which was initially slated to drop last summer. The forthcoming album spawned its first single in August, the platinum-selling “Laugh Now, Cry Later” featuring Lil Durk. However, Drake pushed the album back to January 2021 before postponing it again after suffering a knee injury.
During a live stream on Twitch, DJ Akademiks gave some insight into when “Certified Lover Boy” will be unveiled, which he claims to have obtained directly from the source.
“Drake told me that it’s gonna be dropping before April,” Akademiks revealed. “So he’s not waiting until summer to drop his shit…April, or before.”
According to Akademiks, Drake will announce a definitive date ahead of the album’s release.
“He spent so much time on this project. He’s not trying to put out a surprise project. He’s gonna let people know at least a week before,” AK went on to say.
Drake’s last full-length album was 2018’s “Scorpion,” which is now five times platinum. However, he has released two mixtapes to hold fans over, “Care Package” in 2019 and “Dark Lane Demo Tapes” in 2020.
