DMX is fighting for his life after suffering a drug overdose on Friday that triggered a heart attack.
The 50-year-old was rushed to the hospital Friday, April 2nd, after collapsing at his White Plains, New York home. First responders spent nearly 30 minutes trying to resuscitate that iconic rapper. However, during that time, TMZ reports that he was deprived of oxygen, severely damaging his brain.
Over the weekend, conflicting reports surfaced regarding the state of X's health. One source reported that DMX had "some brain activity," while another source claimed that he was in a "vegetative state" with very little brain and lung activity. At one point, his longtime lawyer, Murray Richman, reported that the rapper was taken off life support and breathing independently. However, he recanted his statement soon after, saying that he was given misinformation about his client's condition.
An official statement from DMX's representative confirmed that the "Where My Dogs At" MC remained in ICU in critical condition. His children and loved ones have flocked to be by his side.
Fans worldwide have shown their support for DMX, with tributes pouring in since the news broke. His rap colleagues have also sent their well wishes and prayers. On Sunday, the "Ruff Ryders" motorcycle crew organized a ride in front of the White Plains Hospital where X is being treated. The following day, a vigil took place outside of the hospital, which drew hundreds of supporters and loved ones who blasted the rapper's music and held up signs showing their love for X.
While it is painfully evident that the rapper's health is in decline, we can only hope for the best as DMX faces the fight of his life.
