The DMX tribute t-shirt designed by Kanye West's Yeezy brand and Balenciaga netted over $1 million in profits that will go directly to his children.
The exclusive shirt went on sale on April 24th with a $200 price tag. Within hours, it had sold out. The long-sleeve, oversized shirt showcases a photo of the late rapper with a cross on each side of him. "RIP" is placed about X's head, while his birth date and death date are on each sleeve.
The shirt was released on the same day that a public memorial was held for DMX at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. While only a limited number of tickets were provided due to the COVID-19 restrictions, thousands of people showed up outside the stadium to pay their respects.
In addition to helping design the tribute shirt, Kanye also performed with his Sunday Service Choir and designed the stage for the memorial. X was laid to rest on Sunday, April 25th, at a private funeral attended only by close friends and family. Both events were streamed live on DMX's official YouTube page.
