A street has been named after late rapper Fred The Godson in The Bronx.
On Monday, loved ones and friends gathered to witness the unveiling of the street, which is named Frederick "Fred the Godson" Thomas Way on the corner of Leggett Avenue and Kelly Street in his home borough.
Many famous faces were in the crowd to remember the New York MC and DJ, including Jim Jones, and Fat Joe, who gave a touching speech about his friend.
"Fred was my friend. Really my brother, really my friend. If I was in New York and had nothing to do, I would call Fred, and we would go down to Heatmakerz studio, and we would just talk for hours."
Fred The Godson lost his battle with COVID-19 in April, just weeks after revealing he had contracted the virus. He was 35 years old.
Fred released his debut mixtape, "Armageddon" in 2010. He followed up with his second release, "City of God," hosted by DJ Drama and featured Pusha T and Raekwon. In 2011, he was featured in XXL's Freshman class. His final mixtape, "Payback," was released the month before his death.
