Gucci Mane and the New 1017 artists are refusing to perform during Howard University's Homecoming week in protest of students' unsafe living conditions.
For over a week, students with Howard University have been demanding change from school leadership over their deteriorating conditions within on-campus dorms. Students have described rats, mold, and roach infestations as the school continues to collect millions in tuition and donations.
1017 stars Big Scarr, HotBoyWes, and Bic Fizzle, were slated to perform at Howard University's Homecoming celebration on October 15th, but the crew pulled the plug to stand with students. They even joined students in a classroom, where they listened to their concerns.
"We standing with y'all," HotBoyWes told the students. "Where my sign at?"

Howard's board of trustees said their focus is to "cultivate spaces for us to listen and discuss prominent issues on students' minds."
It is unclear how long the living conditions have been this poor within the school housing, but it is apparent that students are fed up.
