Kanye West Says That “Donda 2” Will Only Be On His Platform

Fans anxiously awaiting “Donda 2” were dealt a minor blow this week when West announced that he would not be releasing the album to streaming platforms.

Ye revealed on Thursday, which posed an issue to fans who use streaming platforms for most of their music needs. Instead of appearing on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and Amazon Music, “Donda 2” will be featured exclusively on his platform, the Stem Player. To hear the album, users will need to download the player for $200, and the album will be automatically uploaded to it on February 22nd.

“Today, artists get just 12% of the money the industry makes. It’s time to free music from the oppressive system. It’s time to take control and build our own,” the sneaker and music mogul wrote in the Instagram post announcing the app.

Kanye did not name Tidal in his announcement, so it is unclear if that platform will receive “Donda 2” at some point.

The “Jesus Walks” rapper first announced the Stem Player last year, which gives people the ability to customize tracks and control drums, vocals, bass, samples, and more.
