YNW Melly has been behind bars since 2019, fighting a double murder case. Though he has maintained his innocence, new evidence suggests that Melly was indeed the shooter in the October 2018 slayings. The rapper is being accused of killing his two friends, YNW Sakchaser (Anthony Williams) and YNW Juvy (Christopher Thomas Jr.). Prosecutors say after Melly shot the men, he rode around for a while with the bodies before staging the car to look like it was involved in a drive-by shooting. Eventually, he ditched the deceased Sakchaser and Juvy at a local ER.
Sixty-six new pages of DNA evidence show that the gunshots inside the vehicle were fired from Melly's seat. Surveillance footage shows the "Murder on My Mind" star entering the car and sitting in the seat in question. Phone records also prove that he was in the area of the crime at the time it took place.
Melly also allegedly had help from a co-defendant, YNW Bortlen, who assisted in staging the crime scene.
The murder trial is scheduled to begin on March 7th, with prosecutors seeking the death penalty.
