Memphis rapper Pooh Shiesty is facing up to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to a single firearms conspiracy charge.
On Tuesday, the 1017 star pled guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes. The charge stems from an October 2020 incident where Shiesty is captured on film in Bay Harbor Islands, Florida, shooting a 28-year-old man in the buttocks after buying luxury sneakers and marijuana from him.
As part of his plea deal, federal prosecutors have dropped three more serious charges that could have landed Shiesty in prison for life.
Magistrate Judge Lauren Fleischer Louis says that the eight-year sentence is not guaranteed, and the rapper could serve less time.
His legal troubles didn’t stop with the October 2020 shooting. While Shiesty was out on bond, he was arrested again in July 2021 after a security guard was shot at a Miami nightclub where he was performing. The “Back In Blood” rapper has been behind bars at Miami’s Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center ever since.
It’ll be interesting to see how his prison stint will impact his position on Gucci Mane’s 1017 roster in the forthcoming months.
Let’s send Pooh Shiesty well wishes ahead of his sentencing.
