Q-Tip's group, A Tribe Called Quest, is nominated to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this year. Following the announcement that Tribe was being recognized, the 51-year-old explained how the group was able to be widely accepted while performing in front of all-white audiences.
"We played in front of more rock audiences than rap audiences," Tip recalled telling friend and fellow inductee LL Cool J. A Tribe Called Quest shared the stage with Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Hole, and many others, which bridged the gap between rock with hip-hop.
"I feel like the story of music and music's evolution can't happen without hip-hop artists," the "Bonita Applebum" star shared.
Does Q-Tip have a point? Has hip-hop shaped the rock & roll culture, as well as other genres?
