The younger brother of Rae Sremmurd, Michael Sullivan, has officially been charged with first-degree murder after fatally shooting his father, Floyd Sullivan, last year.
Lee County, Miss. District Attorney John Weddle confirmed that the indictment was handed down after a grand jury heard evidence earlier this year. The 19-year-old is facing life in prison if convicted.
Investigators are still unclear why Michael fired the fatal shot at his father, Swae Lee, and Slim Jxmmi's step-father. However, the mother of Michael and Rae Sremmurd, Bernadette Walker, claims that her youngest son deals with severe mental issues. Michael was being detained in a psychiatric facility following the murder on January 6th, 2020. No other suspects were named in the case.
The teenager is said to suffer from Schizoaffective disorder, which is similar to schizophrenia. Mood swings and delusions are common symptoms of the condition. Michael reportedly received a psychiatric evaluation before being sent to jail and was seemingly mentally competent to face the charges.
Neither of Michael's famous half-brothers have commented publicly on his charges or the murder of their step-father.
